Yummy Little Yum Yum.

Kota Damansara is a haven for many good eats. One can find fine dining restaurants to a humble shop lot that serves the most mind blowing food you've ever eaten.

All you've got to do is to know where to look.

Tucked in of its many nooks on Jalan Teknologi is an Asian fusion restaurant - Little Yum Yum.

This quaint restaurant may be small in size but makes up for it with its flavorful homecooked dishes. It's decor may leave more to desire I promise that you'll be too engrossed in what's before you to notice anyway.

Here are some of my favorite dishes that always keeps us coming back for more.

Kerabu Pucuk Paku, RM15 (small) RM30 (big)

You have to have this appetizer of wild ferns, prawns, cashew nuts, shallots and dessicated coconut in a tangy, spicy, coconut milk-spiked sauce. As the tender ferns do not have much taste on their own, it takes on all these bold flavors very well. (I'll post up a recipe soon!)

Yum Yum Egg RM10 (small) RM20 (big)
This house specialty isn't very photogenic but its flavors reminds you of the comforts of home. Simple egg omelette topped with a thick sauce of spring onions, onion, garlic and chicken is heaven on white rice.

Garoupa Fish Fillets with Basil Butter Sauce, RM19 (small) RM38 (big)

Little Yum Yum makes this one sauce that would bring you to your knees. It consists of butter, shallots, cream and fresh basil (somewhat like a pesto). You can have it with deep fried chicken pieces, prawns or in our case garoupa fish fillets. If it wasn't socially unacceptable, I would've licked the plate clean.

Smoked Duck Breast, RM20
Now I know this isn't a very Asian dish; from the choice of meat to the technique, but we always order this as our protein side. This dish is at times a hit and miss. Some days it's smoked too long that the meat dries out and you feel like you're eating the bottom end of the wok, while other times (like today for instance), the duck pieces are tender with a hint of smokiness, with that thin layer of fat that goes perfectly with the sweet plum sauce.

Yum Yum Pandan Chicken RM 3.80 per piece
Another must try at this restaurant is their Pandan Fried Chicken - deep fried marinated chicken thighs that will put all all the dry mess that you've been eating at Thai Restaurants to shame. It's their best seller since 1991, or so they claim.

All in all, Little Yum Yum is a place you can go to for a casual weekend meal. It's simple menu that doesn't fluctuate much isn't exactly cheap but its well worth the money. Do make reservations on weekends though as it can get pretty busy, though service is prompt. Parking may be an issue on weekends as well and the area is rather dimly lit (bring your boyfriends). I do hope that you give it a try - tell me what you think! Their contact details and address are below.
