Midnight Supper Series: Unagi Kabayaki



Unagi Kabayaki on Garlic Rice, Ichiban Boshi, Sunway Giza
The bowl sat steaming in front of me.

I wrapped my hands around its heat, grateful for the warmth after today's rain.

I can see the gold specks of garlic and egg peeking in between the rice grains, begging to be found and given the opportunity to give me garlic breath.

The unagi sits charred, glistening atop this mountain of gold; wearing sequins of spring onion and sesame seeds.

I probably shouldn't. My post break up diet dictates that I should cut down on carbohydrates. 

I know I shouldn't.

But I did. 
I did it all with just a spoon.
